On weekends, you’ll find us trading blueprints for backroads, taking scenic 200–300 mile rides, grabbing breakfast, sightseeing, and sharing a whole lot of laughs.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Tommy Curran entered the elevator industry in 1981 as an apprentice, not knowing it would become a lifelong calling. He worked his way up from the bottom—learning the trade in the field, attending night school for electrical engineering, and eventually teaching classes at the elevator industry school. In 1989, with the support of a close friend and a lot of determination, he opened his first elevator company out of his mother’s second-floor apartment.
In 2004, he founded North American Elevator with a simple but powerful mission: to provide honest, professional service while building a team that feels like family. Today, the company is one of the few remaining privately owned elevator firms in New York City and New Jersey, trusted by developers, property managers, and institutions across the region.
“What a career,” Tommy says. “Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to help build thousands of elevators throughout NYC and NJ. But it’s the people I’ve worked with that matter most.”
Outside of work, Tommy lives a healthy, active lifestyle. He enjoys global motorcycle adventures—from the mountains of Canada to the coasts of Italy—and finds peace in the road ahead. Grounded, grateful, and always looking forward, Tommy continues to lead North American Elevator with heart and purpose.
